Data Sources

County briefings and maps draw on the organizations and services below. We pull updates from these sources several times a day for each county, and we run a scheduled early-morning refresh so the day starts with current data even when no one has visited yet. We do not publish API keys or other credentials on this page.

  • National Weather Service (NWS) at weather.gov
  • CAL FIRE at fire.ca.gov
  • AirNow (U.S. EPA) at airnow.gov
  • PG&E at pge.com for public safety power shutoff and outage references
  • Official county and city emergency pages, linked per county where we have them (for example sheriff, OEM, Cal Alerts).
  • Local Fire Safe Councils, from each council's published contact and website information.
  • Watch Duty at app.watchduty.org
  • OpenStreetMap and Leaflet for map display
